Ive had this story sent to me by several friends asking whether Id seen it or not yet, and the answer is yes, but I had been waiting for another news agency to cover and fact check it before re-posting, even though I think its important. CNN and the Post-Dispatch and USA Today have stories up in the last 24 hours quoting the county police, who insist it was for safety and not to actively deny the press. My personal analysis on the subject is that I think the police just wanted all other helicopters out of the area so they would have maneuver freedom over the area. I dont think they specifically wanted reporters out of the area, but I *do* think they wanted the sky clear so they could move however they want without needing to worry about an air to air collision.
