Ive heard several reports from many residents in the 400 block of Buckeye Street about people using the abandon building at 431 Market. More specifically the upstairs area. I went up the stairs the other day and found there is no door on the outside entry and all the upstairs apartments were open. I informed the City of Wooster Department of Building and Standards. They said they would send a notice to the owner. They did not seem interested in visiting the building, boarding up the building or doing any more than sending a letter to the owner. Building and Standards was aware that there are no tenants, no Gas, Electric or Water at the property at this time and that has been empty since March. They simply did not see that anything about this was within their responsibility and suggested to me that this was a Police matter. The Police say otherwise. As of this writing the city does not want to act. Tonight I had one more report from a neighbor of someone entering that building. By the time I got there they were exiting after having spent 20 to 30 minutes in the building. The word is out and in no time at all the place will become a haven for drug use unless we make an effort to stop this before it gets out of hand. Please contact our Ward 1 City Council representative Mark Cavin at 330-749-3659 or email at mcavin@woosteroh Council at large Craig Sanders at 330-264-6342 or email at csanders@woosteroh Council at large Jon Ansel at 330-345-2516 or email at jansel@woosteroh Council at large Jon Ulbright 330-262-7488 or email at julbright@woosteroh and let them know of the problem. Someone may listen to us eventually. Thank you
