Ive heard too many terrible stories of this sort of behavior in ALL fields. Its hard to see these things, until it happens to you. Rather recently, a person attempting to promote feminine achievement ended a lengthy argument by mockingly claiming that women should just grow a pair of balls. That is the general attitude every where but rather damaging. It just seems every time this issue is raised there is a ready reference to men and their ability to traverse the work place. Yes. But, men are allowed to do their jobs. Women on the other hand are expected to do much more with less respect and less faith in their abilities (recalling Matt Lauers interview with GM CEO about mom hood). But we can’t compare men and women in such roles – to suggest otherwise simply propagates the myth that women need to behave just like men in order to be successful. No. Women need to make the top jobs their own - whether on the pitch, or in the office. Emulating the actions of men might get them noticed, but it won’t win them the respect that Costa so desperately needed at Clermont.
