Ive just come from Borneo and all I can say is the Palm oil industry is massive beyond comprehension! I travelled on a bus for 10 hrs and palm oil was all you could see for 90% of the journey! Millions and millions of acres! It is a very low maintenance crop so does not employ that many people. They weed kill under the trees to prevent any under growth, further turning it into an ecological dessert!! The local wildlife (a lot of it endangered) has been reduced to living in rainforest islands isolated and unable to move freely! Something really needs to be done, please circulate!
