Ive just heard from my friends who adopted Tweedle from me a few years ago. The Missys was walking Tweedle on leash last Sunday when they were rushed by a pit bull that attacked. Apparently it had pulled free from its owner. That owner came running but she brought her second pit bull with her. Then both dogs were lunging, leaping up, biting at Tweedle in Noreens arms. The situation could have been much worse, had the dogs owner not had the two dogs leashed and been able to regain control. Noreen was not knocked to the ground, was not bitten. She was able to get Tweedle home, then grab her car keys to take dog to the vet. Get entire back had to be shaved to treat all the puncture wounds. But shes now recovering a bit. Noreen went to the court today for the hearing on this case. That part had a good outcome. Several restrictions were placed upon the two pit bulls: that they be muzzled when walked but owner is to only walk one of them at a time; pay vet bills and a fine. Then an animal behaviorist is to examine the dogs to determine if theyre safe to live in this high population density area (township). Noreen and Rick discussed with me how to deal with the aftermath for Tweedle if she begins to exhibit serious or even just mild reactivity. At first she wouldnt eat at all, a gigantic behavioral change for this dog. But now shes feeling a bit better, recovering more from her injuries.
