Ive just written a review for the movie, PTSD written and directed by Cedric Godin. Below is the trailer for the movie due for general release soon. Heres my full review: Review for the Cedric Godin movie PTSD By John Mc Dermott, founder of Aftermath PTSD aftermathptsd.co.uk I’ve now watched the movie several times together with a group of British military veterans, who have collectively remarked that this movie, above all others of similar genre, tells the truth about the devastating impact war upon the individual. Personally, I believe PTSD has significant value by being able, through the main character played by Jason L Brandt, to effectively recall the hidden humanity behind the veteran soldier. While parts of the movie can be quite disturbing to watch it does detail the daily hidden struggles that sufferers go through on a day to day basis. In my view this is ‘core’ movie making where the director, Cedric Godin, has skilfully allowed the other main players, Phillipe Simon, G Larry Butler and Treva Etienne to explore their own hidden fears and reactions to what can only be called the ‘Hidden Wound’ that is PTSD. This is no mean feat of acting, rather than a genuine response to a genuine psychological issue, often dismissed or side lined in other forms of the entertainment industry. G Larry Butler’s role in this movie, therefore, cannot be underestimated. Indeed, Butler is himself a veteran still suffering from PTSD originating from his time in the Vietnam war of the 1960’s and 70’s. This is a movie that will most definitely change the way people view returning veterans from conflict. Gone is the hopeless flag waving euphoria, gone is the be-medalled hero. What arrives is a deep remembrance of what makes us human with a glimpse of why needless wars occur and why there are never any real heroes, only casualties, desperate to put their lives back together again. I recommend this movie to anyone not yet enamoured by gloriously illustrated warfare found so often within the high end of the movie business. As mentioned, this is core movie making and Cedric Godin has a gift for it. Watch it and I’m sure you will agree with me. John Mc Dermott Founder of Aftermath PTSD. ptsd-themovie/
