Ive kept my mouth shut as long as Im going to. And yes-Im blasting my business all over the place and really dont care. And Im sure some will get mad- oh well-dont read it then. I had worked at Beare Manor well over 10 years-from charge nurse, MDS/Careplan Coordinator, and in 2009 to Director of Nurses. I was told upon taking the DON position I would have ADON to help. More than not , I did. But before I gave my notice I was told I could not have ADON until census was 50 or above, in which we had not had census that high in way over year, possibly two. The MDS Coordinator could do some of the task of ADON. But yet Im told previously that I couldnt pull MDS to floor to cover any shifts, which I did before, therefore leaving me as the only one to cover shifts-any freaking shifts from CNA-CMA-LPN-ANY of them, if I couldnt get it covered. So everything was changed again and MDS nurse did fill in some on med cart. D/t census, staff was legal but minimal. Even with a low census if you are truly working in a culture change enviroment-such as if they want a shower or whirlpool at 10pm-they get it-as they darn well should!! Or if they choose to eat dinner at 8pm instead of 5pm, they do! But how do you do that with the minimal staffing!!! YOU CANT!! Anyhow, after the ADON position was terminated , again, I put my notice in , for I knew the result of it, and knew there was no way I could do my job to my satisfaction, not covering all the shifts, etc, plus getting MY job done. About a month before my notice was up, all kinds of things happened-court was going to start on when my step son was murdered, and I was informed it would be lasting a while. Mark began working a job that with his hours I was left with no one to watch Olivia. Several other things were going on that all my plans had fell apart. So I swallowed my pride and asked if I could revoke my resignation. I was told no. I was also told I couldnt even work as weekend RN! Like WTH is that about!!! I felt like I was a piece of shit for this company that I had worked at for so long- working my ass off-worked EVERY weekend-(minus the FEW that I had coverage for) worked EVERY HOLIDAY for past year!! - NO RAISE IN OVER 3 YEARS-up until the time I quit I worked my job PLUS worked with CNAs on floor until 11pm!! So I apply for unemployment- to be DENIED-because they were told I quit for personal reasons and I was not asked to do anything that was not my job duties! Are you flipping kidding me!! LOL. so this company-this company that I basically put first-in front of family, holidays, ballgames, EVERYTHING- really appreciates their employees. Lol. You corporate people- you get all you deserve. You dont do employees the way you do them-no holiday pay for Anyone except for Department Heads, is only one for example, and expect a good outcome. You should be extremely grateful, actually, because the majority of the people employed there care for the residents in such a way that you greedy bastards cant even fathom. The nursing home world is one in its own. And everyone that has or is working in it knows. Legal staffing ratios are bullshit and we all know it. We all know the CMA should not be counted as part of CNAs because they arent working as CNAs. They have their own job, just as LPNs. Nursing homes are one of the most regulated businesses ever-which makes staffing extremely difficult-so common sense tells you to value your good employees and take care of them-or you wont have them long. Whats even funnier is Ive sat there and watched as NO UNEMPLOYMENT PAPERS were turned In on people who got fired for things that shouldnt even qualify for it- but they got it because nothing was turned in by employer.
