Ive learned a lot about the phenomenon of the LA fair-weather friend in the last few months. Those particular type of lessons are hard to absorb, because you just dont WANT them to be true. And they are so hard to believe, especially if, like me, you were born and raised somewhere else and have what, shockingly, amounts to a much different value system. What I find unacceptable in both my personal and professional life are deemed to be just par for the course in this town. Every joke you hear about the phoniness of LA has a grain of truth to it. But, the lessons are now learned. And I wont forget them. What do they say? Leave NY before the city makes you hard and leave LA before the city makes you soft. So interesting, I would have said the EXACT opposite. And, f*ck the beautiful weather. Thats just not enough to sustain this so-called dream. Not anymore.
