Ive learned so much in the last few weeks. In two months, Ive filled almost an entire 3 subject notebook with every word or thought I hope to remember about business or salon management or human relations. Ive written and rewritten, formatted and researched, and spoken in front of my classes. Ive been tested and Im winning..(all but that dreadful math) But one thing that I thank God for teaching me above all of that: to let others be themselves, even when its different than me. I was always quick to call someone a liar when their story didnt line up with mine, because I knew mine was the truth. How awful and dangerous that mindset is.. Im learning that if 10 people saw the same thing, there are 10 different stories to describe it, and thats assuming all 10 are telling the truth as they see it. I had personal judgments about college, and the secret motives to make everyone a liberal democrat.. So I judge what I learn against my own filters of truth, and this valuable lesson is confirmed by the four Gospels. Four different men, under the inspiration of Holy Spirit, wrote four very different, yet solidly confirming stories. In the last two months Ive also learned to accept what others think and feel as valid, whether I understand where theyre coming from or not. By validating their thoughts, I dont necessarily lose my own..and its important to me that I dont lose mine. Bottom line: I am beyond thankful that in taking a simple Cosmetology course, Im learning so much about life and how to love. ❤️
