Ive made my follow-up appointments, but ive developed a suspicion - TopicsExpress

Ive made my follow-up appointments, but ive developed a suspicion about whats wrong with me. As I mentioned in my previous update, theres been some symptoms that have carried on beyond my recovery from the after-effects of the spinal tap procedure. I didnt name what they were, but here goes: paralysis of the left side of my face, affecting my ability to eat properly, or even whistle or drink from a straw, and weakening of my left eyelid. Also dryness of the left eye, while my right eye streams tears any time i lay on my right side. My sense of taste has also been diminished... everything tastes like I had a low does of novocaine spread on my tongue. And finally high blood pressure (my bp normally runs kind of low), and a mild background headache that wont fully go away. Stroke was ruled out at the hospital, and my limbs are not affected at all.... so after speaking to a few friends, and to my mother, who was a nurse for 22 years, ive started to think that ive got Bells Palsy. Which, if true, is actually good news.... much better than the what I feared at first, and it goes away on its own after some weeks or months, depending on the person and severity. Obviously Im not a doctor, and Im going to see a neurologist to figure out if thats indeed what it is. Im not one of those annoying patients that self-diagnoses and tells my doctors whats wrong with me, so Im just going to report my symptoms and see what they say. Anyway, id be interested to hear from anyone else thats had that particular set of symptoms. Im being proactive about getting this nailed down and sorted, so please dont take these updates as any attempt at melodrama or a cry for sympathy. I just want to be transparent for the sake of those that have expressed concern, and possibly hear back from others that may have experience with this set of symptoms.
