Ive missed him for 23 years now. Copied this because it says it all so well. RIP Freddie Mercury. You were one of a kind, I doubt well ever see another like you, and your music will go on for a very, very long time to come. It was 23 years ago today On this date in 1991, Freddie Mercury died of complications from AIDS. His loss was a huge one to the music world and the world in general. He was a dynamic, flamboyant frontman for Queen and one of the very best rock front men ever. If you have any doubt, watch the incredible energy from Queen’s Live Aid performance, largely thought to be one of the best live rock performances ever: https://youtube/watch?v=UE_9_Ejybhc Although his personal life was chaotic and he had a reputation for wild behavior, he was also a very kind and considerate man in private. He also had a drive to succeed and literally continued working—writing music and recording—until shortly before his death. One of the last songs he recorded was “The Show Must Go On,” a song which was literally his farewell to us all. The lyrics are heartbreaking and the vocals are powerful and although there was doubt that Freddie, as sick as he was, would be able to sing it, legend has it that he went into the studio, drank a considerable amount of vodka, then went in and totally killed the song. His strength even in the face of death is something we should all strive to emulate. https://youtube/watch?v=t99KH0TR-J4 RIP, Freddie Mercury. I hope where ever you are, the show never stops. We miss you down here.
