Ive never had any beliefs of racism. Here is a story that I witnessed, and, was happy with the outcome. I am a freelance musician. Years ago, I was involved in a recording with a band of local, and Western fame...our trumpet player was Aboriginal. The producer of the record was throwing the odd racial comment about our trumpeter. It was getting to the point where it was getting brutal. We were sitting in the booth, while our trumpeter was over-dubbing some parts. It was a rough day for all of us. The producer told him to take a break. As the producer was reaching for his coffee, he made a remark about our trumpeter, saying hed missed his calling as a rain-dancer. I was about to get up and hit the prick, when I noticed our trumpeter sitting at the piano....so did the producer. He sat and played a Chopin composition. It was beautiful! The producer dropped his hot coffee in his lap! I burst out laughing!! He looked at me, scowling, he said What the F is so funny? I told him it was the look on his face, when he saw the Big F***in Indian (hed been calling him BFI all morning) playing whitey music. He never said another derogatory thing the remainder of the time we were working with him... As a sax player, I stood next to this man for a few years-couldnt find a more gentle human being...
