Ive never thought of myself as greater or better than anyone else. Quite the contrary. But my self-confidence was spiked a couple of weeks ago when a woman said she regarded me as a world citizen rather than a Norwegian (and she is also from Norway). According to Urban Dictionary, a world citizen is a person who wishes not to be tied to any one nation. These people see humanity as one and do not like the idea of nationalism, patriotism, racism, or any other segregating ideology. That is probably the finest compliment I have ever received. I dont say this to brag, but to explain myself, because I want to evolve despite being 42 and risk becoming stagnated. A lot of people think they know me, but they dont. And, what makes me more proud: my son Fredrik recently proved that he has the same kind of conviction. He speaks a lot about North Korea, which he has learned about in school and has deep concerns for, and last week he said he wished there could be one world, without geographical borders. Great world view!
