Ive not met anyone yet who doesnt love seeing the sheep in Coopers - TopicsExpress

Ive not met anyone yet who doesnt love seeing the sheep in Coopers Meadow - and before that the cows were enjoyed, but the sheep and those sweet lambs have been loved by all. They are part of the conservation grazing project run by ARK. I was therefore surprised to see this in the recent draft minutes online from the town council Amenities & Open Spaces Committee; RESOLVED: by 5 votes for with 2 against (Cllr. B. Castle voting against) and 1 abstention that the amendments to the Cooper’s Meadow Management Plan be agreed and that references to grazing rights are withdrawn so bringing it in line with the restrictions set out in the original lease and that the plan then be recommended to Full Town Council for adoption. Really???? Do they mean chuck the sheep out? Give up the conservation grazing? Wave goodbye to all the work thats been done? Dont bother with the wild flowers? They cant surely mean that, no one would do that would they? Ah.. it goes to full town council on Dec 15th. I might have to go...... Members of the A & OS Committee are; Councillor G. Loosmore Chairman Councillor Mrs E.M. Hannaford-Dobson Town Mayor Councillor S. Dobson Councillor B. Castle Councillor Mrs M. Rose Councillor B. Lam Councillor J. Cook Councillor A. Light I can guess with both eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back who voted this through. An abstention is often political as councillors are sometimes afraid (particularly if they belong to the Tory party) of voting against the all powerful people who can severely restrict everything you do! Its nasty - and Ive said it before but Politics has no place in Local Town Council business - it just gets in the way!
