Ive not really researched my Butler, Gooch & Padgett lines, both - TopicsExpress

Ive not really researched my Butler, Gooch & Padgett lines, both on my fathers side. Just no one really left to answer questions or they arent interested. The way the Goochs & Padgetts intermarried created chaos. Way to many Liza Janes and Lucy Janes, most all surnamed either Gooch or Padgett- by birth or marriage. Aaaarrrgggghh! Anyhow, following is a picture of my great-grandparents, my fathers paternal grandparents, Annie May/Mae Gooch Butler Raley & William LaFayette Butler (they divorced, each married others and then reunited when the 2nd spouses died). Look at my great-grandmothers left leg. Looks awkward, huh? Well, the story is this. The Goochs lit out of Kentucky and came to Texas. Great-grandma Butler was 5. Somewhere along the way, Ive been told, she picked up an ax to help chop wood. Except she almost cut off her leg instead! I dont (yet) know where the Goochs settled. The Butlers, who left Georgia for Texas, first settled in Turnersville in Coryell Co. and then Valley Mills in Bosque Co. Traveling Hwy. 6 from Waco to Valley Mills, on the left by the Dollar General is a street to turn on. The first left off that street is Butler Road. Along in there, on the right, was the old Butler home place. Ill see if I can find the pic of great-grandpa standing in front of the old place and scan it.
