Ive not seen it yet...but Im so sick of folks belly-aching about the authenticity. VERY FEW HOLLYWOOD FILMS ARE REALISTIC! When CAPTAIN PHILLIPS came out...we found out that Capt. Phillips was NOT the hero Hollywood mad him out to be. When Id bring this up...nobody seemed to care. Nobody was surprised. Interestingly, this article says that many of the things peopel think were created for the film...are, in fact, legend or part of the story in its earlier forms...: Many of the gap fillers are borrowed directly from Midrashic literature firmly anchored in the Jewish tradition. Other plot elements not found in scripture are adapted from the Midrash, other sections of the Bible, and fairly well known Jewish mysticism. The strangest addition to the cinematic story is a lifted directly from “The Book of Enoch,” an ancient Jewish text.
