Ive noticed dozens and dozens of posts that say that it was a really great year for many of you, and Im very happy for each one. I cannot post that, and I wont because in all honesty it was a very rough year and not very great... I watched my beautiful brother struggle to survive a few more months before complications from his liver disease took his life, Im still missing my mom cooking in her kitchen and taking her out for shrimp dinners... living her life to the fullest, but she lays in a nursing home bed, dealt with some issues in my family that were not very pleasant causing a lot of unnecessary stress, still dealing with ongoing chronic health issues that dictate a lot of my activity and then I abruptly lost a job that I really had embraced and dedicated myself to. And on top of all those things Ive also seen many dear friends struggle through some horrific crisises and health issues and family problems. And as an American Ive worried about the state of our country and the world around us and the evil thats prevailing and wondering if the church is going to rise up to the challenge as I pray for Israel and Christians who are persecuted worldwide. It is not that Im not grateful for all the blessings in my life...I thank God every single day for my family, our health, all that he provides, etcetera etcetera...mostly for my salvation and for Jesus reaching down and saving me from sin....but I am a realist...God is a constant source of help and I wouldnt make it without him...that is why I keep my eyes and my thoughts on Him... And if these troubles and trials are here to keep me on my knees and close to him and calling on his name, then so be it, Hes worthy. Sorry if this is somber. Praying and believing for better things ahead as this new year rolls in....♡
