Ive noticed when current issues facing Pottstown are posted and talked about on Good old days of Pottstown! Then and Now there seems to be a few common responses... Too bad we cant..., Its a shame that..., It didnt used to be this way, Why cant..., Bring back the..., or my favorite I dont know anything about (insert issue here), but.... Is this the apathy Pottstown leadership talked about? For all but 3 of my nearly 45 years my address has ended with Pottstown, Pa. I get it folks, I had my good old days too, but for cripes sake, wishing and hoping this town returns to its former glory will not accomplish anything. It may be a hard pill to swallow, but the Pottstown of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, even the 80s and the 90s is gone and it aint coming back, thats reality folks. But listen, just because this town is no longer like it used to be DOES NOT mean that it has to be the way it is now. If youre voicing your opinion about it it must bother you to some degree, and if it bothers you why not make an effort to make a change for the better? Get involved, learn who is in charge in Pottstown and what theyve done, or not done, to make this town what it is now. Push yourself away from the computer for a few hours and attend a borough council meeting, see how your leaders operate. The next borough council meeting is this coming Monday evening, August 11th at 6:30 pm, 3rd floor of borough hall. I heard it may be a good one, and dont worry, you wont be alone. :) Ill leave you with this thought. A very wise man I once knew often used the phrase... Wish in one hand and shit in the other. See which one fills up first. Think about it. Get involved. Help make this town better than the way it is now.
