Ive often been asked why Raising Spirits and St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. My response is always - kids are kids, despite if they are sick. Most kids are fascinated by ghosts and hauntings and monsters, and they get a thrill out of being scared. Additionally, the paranormal and horror communities are just that - communities - that are generous in their giving and support of St. Jude. No matter how terrifying or intimidating or scary a monster is, peel away the mask and usually you will find a person with a huge heart willing to do whatever it takes to help a child with cancer. Horror movies have always been my go-to in terms of making me feel better, and that includes coming face to face with your own mortality. Im not looking for sympathy, and frankly, I dont want it.
