Ive often wondered who decides what makes a real man or a real - TopicsExpress

Ive often wondered who decides what makes a real man or a real woman. My theory is that people on both sides and in between the spectrum of gender feel they need to invalidate other demographics of people to create a false sense of moral superiority or Ideological confirmation. If all humans were truly equal, an ideal so many of us claim to support, messages such as Real women have curves or Real men wear suits wouldnt be found in and around every corner of the internet. I hold my own prejudices like everyone else, though mine are generally held toward those who harbor hate or demonstrate intentional ignorance toward groups of people for simply existing, i.e. racists, homophobes, ect. Similarly, I denounce bigots because I myself disapprove of their extremist ideologies founded in hate and I believe my beliefs are morally just and view theirs as unjust. Once again, are either of us really correct? Certainly one is more progressive than the other in the midst of our current cultural paradigm, driven by my own generation as we prepare to take our turn managing the on goings of the world, but does that really lend it more validity or truth? It ultimately up to each one of us to decide for ourselves but it is healthy to ponder over.
