Ive posted it before but I am POSTING AGAIN!! Have you heard the new Swami track Do it Again?. These guys are original and they have their own sound. Trends change, music goes in and out, everything is a cycle, but just now and then you need a couple of sparks to get the engine going again. In the last few years and even recently I have heard much chatter about the UK asian music scene not being as strong as it once was. And yes I will agree that there are a multitude of reasons including the big fact that we do not have any new bands or musicians coming up (which is kind of a biggie). The scene falling on its arse is a massive topic and this post will not be enough for it. To many acts worry about fitting into what is perceived as the formula (more the case with bhangra) and if you carry on in that vain nothing changes. The UK is rich with talent and musical inspiration and I would love to see more collaboration happening between artists here. The only way the scene can grow further is if the talent here makes the effort to try new things, collaborate, share ideas, share singers as well as even having producers working with other producers.
