Ive posted this on a page I run and its only an idea, what do you think?? It is a rough idea but how can it not work? Input would be appreciated.. no slurs please try and see what Im saying as some of it may be a bit jumbled as its only a theory at the moment Colour Sensor I need funding to expand this idea, I am an engineer and need tooling and materials Why not have a sensor in the chamber that detects the COLOUR OF THE FLAME and adjusts until its corrected for max Efficiency / Power No need for a constant rolling road check, every time you change your cars settings in the engine, because the ecu learns the colour for each loading situations and adjusts accordingly until the best ratio of fuel/air has been attained. My idea proposes that the ecu, using this Colour sensor, works by looking for a Specific COLOUR Zone. just as the knock sensor listens to the knock of the explosive force in the chamber and adjusting the advancement of the spark accordingly depending on which fuel you use. The COLOUR SENSOR as the name suggests looks at the flame / charge and adjusts the colour by changing the fuel duration by increasing or decreasing the pulse time to the injectors, thus finding and remembering the correct Fuel/Air ratio for the work rate in hand. simple huh. All it needs is a crank sensor and this COLOUR sensor to work utilizing a learning ecu that stores and selects the best map for any situation that you teach it, with the final solution offering at least 3 different settings: an economy mode, a sport mode, and a full on track/race mode. What this also means is that now there is no need for other sensors like MAFs etc trying to guess how much fuel is needed by the air speed. Now it knows exactly what ratio of fuel to use, with its real time COLOUR comparison logging, this will then relay the information to the ecu which in turn controls the engine s mechanisms exactly to the correct ratios and positions for the best efficiency at any load and rpm. PLUS Any aftermarket modding you do to the car s engine, eg gas flowing it, adding an induction kit / exhaust, different size injectors or even a blower ~ the system easily adapts to it, without the need for time consuming labour intensive remapping or a new custom ecu. again simples huh This means cheaper manu costs kinder to the environment, less maintenance and specialized mechanics machinery needed and it can even show you whats wrong with the engines chamber as it can tell by the colour- if oil or any deposits have built up. Fore warned is fore armed k.i.s.s. So basically like the knock sensor but it doesnt listen and advance or retard the ignition, It looks and adjusts the fuel coming from the injectors. Simple ! Too much red is too lean, and will burn your engine valves and rings Too much yellow is too rich and will soot your engine and exhaust up. Bluey turquoise is spot on right. and will give a clean powerful combustion meaning efficient power delivery meaning less cost and more mpg and less maintenance.
