Ive read one book in this goodreads best book thing. (Jeff VanderMeers ANNIHILATION - its pretty decent, so if you want my recommendation for a book, there you go.) Theres a couple of other books on there that Id like to read, but havent yet. Murakamis new one, for example. Mandells Station 11. A few others like Bone Clocks. But mostly, all those books are just passing me by. They might be good, they might not, but theyre just not the direction Im going. Still, I think this is a good time to introduce you all to my new drinking game called Goodreads Best Fiction vs Classic Books of Quality. The way it works is you pick a book from the list, and then you pick a book that you love, and you compare the two. For example, you pick one book, say Sandersons Words of Radiance, and then you pick another, say Joseph Hellers Catch 22, and you compare the rating. Every time the book you value culturally, artistically and personally loses out to the rankings, you take a drink. If you want to get classy about it, you can compare on genres. But otherwise, thats how it rolls.
