Ive remained largely silent on the recent (and pending) admission - TopicsExpress

Ive remained largely silent on the recent (and pending) admission of Ebola patients to Emory University Hospital. I was, initially, not excited to have confirmed cases of this disease purposefully brought to the United States, and indeed, to the campus on which I work (admittedly, largely because of the fear I, as an immuno-suppresed individual, had). Ive since done quite a bit of research on the ebola virus, and understand not only the protocols that Emory University Hospital is undertaking, but also the way in which this virus is transmitted. I am now completely comfortable with these patients being treated next door to my work place. I am proud to work at a university with such an incredible hospital system, and affiliation with the CDC. And I am amazed at the promise of medical research which we, as ordinary citizens, are often unaware of - as evidenced by this article: To the doctors, nurses, researchers, and everyone else involved in patient care for these individuals, bravo. You have much to be proud of, and you are all doing great work. cnn/2014/08/04/health/experimental-ebola-serum/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
