Ive said for 8 years that Romo is not the problem. Ive said for 8 - TopicsExpress

Ive said for 8 years that Romo is not the problem. Ive said for 8 years that he is the right man for the job. Ive said for 8 years that I believe in this guy. Ive said for 8 years that Romo, once he gets a complete team around him, can and will be hoisting a Lombardi. Ive said for 8 years that Romo will be in the Ring of Honor. NFL Hall of Famer Troy Aikman agrees. Some of you may or may not remember, but several years back Aikman went on record, live on the air, and said statistically and talent wise Romo is better now than I ever was or ever could have dreamed of being. If Romo was on that 90s team instead of me, no doubt in my mind he could have taken them to 3 SuperBowls. Heck he might have gotten 4. Roger Staubach said much of the same. And yet for 8 years, people like us have had to sit by, and listen to all the critics. You know who Im talking about. These guys that seem to think #9 is the only guy out there. These guys that seem to not want to admit that the best quarterbacks in the league cant do it without some help, and yet when it comes to Romo thats exactly what they expect. These guys that pull the rings card. But he doesnt have a ring though, yeah neither does Dan Marino. Trent Dilfer does though. And if youd honestly take him over Marino you have absolutely no right to discuss football at any level. For 8 years Romo has been crucified, even by Cowboy fans that demanded another quarterback. Even by now former cowboy fans that said they refused to support this franchise and its choke artist quarterback any longer. These cowboy fans that jumped ship, went and cheered for different teams. These cowboy fans that took video of them burning their Romo jerseys and then proudly posted it on Facebook or YouTube. For 8 years Romo has been hanging on a cross, and I have been hanging right next to him. Many of us have. Those that appreciate his guts, his raw talent, his determination, his drive. And we have all been called idiots. We have all been called fake fans by the very ones that jumped ship on Romo and our boys. We have all been laughed at, mocked, scrutinized, there are many different words one could use here, but you get where Im going. Quite a few years ago, there was a quarterback coming out of college by the name of John Elway. For years Elway couldnt get over that proverbial hump. For years Elway was scrutinized, laughed at, as were his supporters, much like Romo and his supporters are now. It wasnt until Elway got Terrell Davis in his backfield, and a complete team around him that he led the Denver Broncos to 2 consecutive Superbowl championships, just before hanging it up. Just like that he went from a choke artist to one of the greatest to ever put on the pads, in many peoples minds anyway. Nobody talks about what Elway did before he acquired that Superbowl team. Because nobody cares. They talk about his legacy. Romo also has a legacy. But there are 2 major differences in Romos book and Elways. One, Elway was a high draft prospect right out of college. Everyone knew who he was. Everyone expected him to be big time. Romo was an undrafted quarterback out of eastern Illinois that the typical American had never heard of. He proceeded to earn the respect of arguably one of the greatest coaches of all time, Bill Parcells, and eventually would become the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. As they say, the rest is history. Or is it? The other difference between Romo and Elway? The book of Romo is not finished yet. -UltimateCowboy
