Ive seen several posts by people angrily wondering how we can give so much attention to Robin Williams suicide while theres so many thousands of people dying in Iraq, Palestine etc. I usually abhor the celebrity based culture and agree that we give too much attention to unimportant or downright stupid things, but I think this case is different. Robin Williams brought joy to millions of people again and again, and seemed to have been a very kind and caring man, apart from being a genius. So yes, I think his passing deserves attention, even amid all the other even more dramatic things to which we should give no less attention. I think we should rather be glad that his death touches so many, because it proves he had an impact - and it can only have been a joyful one. If there would be angels in disguise walking around on this planet to make life a little bit better, brighter and lighter, Robin Williams would be on my list of suspects.
