Ive seen some arguing lately about the origins of the the name Easter and the date of the holiday. And while academically I care, I dont care otherwise. Jesus came to redeem ALL of creation-- you, me, gay people, people who hate gay people, people who hate those people, people who love gay people, Jews, people who hate Jews, people who love Jews, liberals, conservatives, libertarians, anarchists, card sharks, sharks, tree huggers, trees, all of us, all of it. God made it to begin with; its all Gods. This includes holidays, the ones God explicitly told Israel to observe, and all those we came up with, regardless of the reason, pagan or church-ish. If you are a Christian and this offends you, please go reread whatever Scriptures popped into mind in the larger context; they may not mean what you have always been told. If you arent Christian and this offends you, Im sorry. Youre free to believe whatever you like. But I pray you come to know the one who loves you more than anything. Gods not about rules; Gods about relationships. Whatever you believe, you are a joy to me and a gift to me, and an even greater joy to God and gift to his/her[1] own self.
