Ive seen this groups wonderful list of fabric vendors, and I have a pretty clear idea in my head about which linens and silks are appropriate for this era, but I still find myself a bit lost when it comes to wool. People in my area use the wool flannel from B Black and Sons for their period attire (mostly middle class), but thats the extent of my knowledge of how/where to find period-appropriate wools. Other than the flannels, I see things like gabardine, suiting, crepe, tropical fabric. English super wool, tweed, etc., and I have no idea how these names translate into their period counterparts. Any advice on which are appropriate for the 16th century and which are right out?
