Ive seen this on a few pages now, and it invokes a few thoughts for me. The first one is - Put your pride away senior service, and learn from the army. We have been dealing with this for alot longer then you. Why are you not teaching your guys how to correctly disassociate yourself from the situation, why are you not properly screening your guys? why do you let it get to this point. Yes people will always be traumatised, there is no way around that, but make sure your resting your guys properly and give them the support they need. secondly - for the guys that had to deal with this. Understand, you are not in any way responsible for what happens to these people. You have not forced them onto a leaking barge, you make decisions based on the information you have at the time, no more no less. You cannot and are not expected to play god, that is not your job, not your responsibility. The objects fished out of the water are not humans, they are not people. They are an inanimate objects, they ceased being humans when they became deceased. I feel the ABC is trying to deamonise the military....again, they did it with the 7.30 report into the westralia incident and the melbourne vs us destroyer incident. Why do they struggle to much to make an objective interview. Why was the crew of the patrol boat dealing with the body bags in such a reckless fashion? there is no excuse for bodily fluids to be pooling on the deck, this is a massive warning sign to me, why wasnt it picked up and addressed immediately? and those are my thoughts
