Ive seen this shared on Facebook. Laptops in a lecture can be unnecessary (unless youve mastered electronic note taking). But I know I nearly flunked out of high school because lecture doesnt work for me. So why are schools still trying to pass learning by way of lecture? Dont get me wrong, there is a place for lecture - I listen to them on Sunday each week - but when I am at work I am in conversations, reading, etc. to accomplish the tasks and learning I need to do. Im having a hard time thinking of a situation in life where I am going to spend most of every day listening to lectures. But on the topic of laptops, they are great in a nontraditional classroom, as long as the teacher knows when to open them and when to close them. But to get there, a teacher needs time to learn the skill. Just a thought...
