Ive sent the following email to Mark Bradley (the bloke Rovers pay to improve the atmosphere) and Ryan Murrant (Sean Lockwoods replacement): Mark, First thanks for hosting the fan panel last week, recently Ive been feeling very disengaged with the club on many levels and after I left the panel youd won me over with your infectious enthusiasm. That lasted less than a week as the club then saw fit to send out the attached letter to our more vocal and young supporters. Some highlights include: A report has been made by Football intelligence to the Doncaster Rovers Football Club regarding social media comments demonstrating intent to use or support use of pyrotechnic products at football matches Firstly who are Football Intelligence? If I was a cynical man Id suggest the club have taken it upon them to trawl through the Facebook group themselves and have received no such report from this nonexistent body. Secondly the vast majority of these comments were quite clearly made in jest yet the club have seen fit to jump on them in this utterly ridiculous and heavy handed way. Next highlight: As a result were not prepared to sell you a ticket to future games until youve made an appointment to attend the stadium and speak to the Stadium safety team regards this. We are contacting the authorities at other grounds informing them of the report we have received and we expect that they will not allow you admission to these games also Contacting other clubs? What right do DRFC have to pass these personally identifying details on to third parties? My understanding of the Data Protection Act is that individuals should generally be able to choose whether or not their personal data is disclosed to another organisation, obviously the individuals concerned havent given permission for this data to be shared. THIS is a perfect example of why our support is so broken, the club is so concerned with chasing another family excellence award that theyre quite prepared to sacrifice our core, working class supporters. These letters have been sent to lads that sing their hearts out and follow the club all over the country, the EXACT people that we are trying to appeal to to make a singing section work. If I was one of these lads thats had this ludicrous letters is be very tempted to tell to club to stick their singing section initiative up their arse. My final issue is with this: We will only be prepared to consider allowing you entry to Keepmoat Stadium if you first sign an Acceptable Behaviour Agreement and demonstrate to us that you intend to be bound to it Remember that the vast majority, if not all, of the people that have received these letters have never even seen a pyrotechnic device, let alone set one off at a football match. Why should they have to sign an agreement to behave in an acceptable manner when thats exactly what they do anyway. In summery: the club has shot itself in the foot, lied to its fans, potentially breached the Data Protection Act and accused innocent people of committing a criminal offence. In Rovers We Trust? I wouldnt trust them to run a bath, let alone a football club. Neil Taylor.
