Ive spent a day longer than expected at Kaza, which is 3700 mts - TopicsExpress

Ive spent a day longer than expected at Kaza, which is 3700 mts because the altitude is seriously hitting me. Travelling to Kibber, one of the highest villages in the world at 4300 mts, tomorrow, and hoping I dont collapse like a total plain dweller. No pictures to upload at this status because I am at a cafe and hotel internet is skittish at best. A little recap: We drove on the worst roads, or what pretended to be roads, Ive ever been on. The Rohtang Pass at 3979 mts is the highest ive been on and had opened up only three days ago. So the roads are still only being formed. I can honestly say there were times when I feared for my life. After the Rohtang Pass we hit the Kunzam pass at 4590 mts (OUCH). We stopped at a the Kunzam Mata temple and I got out to take pictures only to be immediately hit by altitude sickness. Not fun. 12 hours on the non-road, peeing in open lands and finally getting to Kaza was an experience Id do over again because the trans-Himalayan scenery is spectacular. Lower Himalayas are like a painting, the Upper Himalayas are like the madness of the artist. You could stretch your imagination and still never have dreamed this up. Ive been told we drove along side the second largest glacier in the world. No, seriousl, this is a life changing experience for me. I am humbled equally by man and nature. Tomorrow, we head out and my internet stops for a good ten days. Till then, hold fort for me. xx
