Ive spent a lot of time contemplating this week. My Mom has been in the hospital (shes home now, yay!). I realized I didnt have any photos that Ive taken of her professionally. When I went home to visit over the holidays I asked to take her picture and she told me she didnt look good, she didnt have any makeup on etc. When she said these things my heart sank. I wanted her to see all of the things I see when I look at her, her pretty green eyes, her contagious smile, her hands that curl. My Mom is the main reason I got into photography. She was in a car accident when I was 6 years old. Her accident left her paralyzed and in a wheelchair. I vowed to see as much of the world as I could and to document it in my photographs. I would come home after my trips and tell her about my experiences and the people I met. She has inspired me to always follow my heart. She has also inspired me to show other people the beauty that I see in them through my lens. Dont focus on losing those last few pounds, dont focus on your imperfections. Be you. Document you. We dont always have tomorrow so celebrate today.
