Ive spent the last few months reading Israeli newspapers and Israeli comments to observe and try to understand the other side. It quickly became very clear that their blind hate for Palestinians stems from years and years of brainwashing. It was hard to find articles where antisemitism and the Holocaust were not mentioned, as if playing the victim card is all they have to justify the atrocities of racism, displacement, and genocide of the Palestinians. They say that we are monsters and want the destruction of Israel just because we are inherently evil and violent. They refuse to understand that violent retaliations and Palestinian anger is a direct consequence of the occupation and horrific treatment of Palestinians for OVER 60 YEARS. If an Israeli or a Jew came to our defense and drew out the correlation, they would call him a traitor or a self-hating Jew. So many of these Israelis live sheltered lives in Tel Aviv, much like the lives we lead in the U.S, and they know little about what is going on in Gaza and the West Bank. On the other hand, there are many that know about our struggle, those who joined the BDS movement and participate in protests demanding for equal rights for the Arabs. Theres so much more that I could say.....There is so much to learn about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that should not be ignored if we seek justice and peace.
