Ive thought about the topic of what age to let your girl shave her legs for a very long time. And any of you that know me well understand that Im a pretty strict parent. So, its not with abandon that Ive decided to let Allison do so tonight after she and I talked about it first several weeks ago, and then again earlier today. She is very self conscious about the hair on her legs, and not in an OMG I WANT TO ATTRACT DEM BOYZ kind of way. At all. So as per with the bra situation (where she wanted one last year well before she needed one but a lot of cheer girls wore them already), Jim and I decided to let her make the call and not make her feel weird about it, but instead confident about herself when the time came. I feel like it is on par of denying a kid with a case of early acne some zit cream for a poor complexion just because the kid wasnt deemed old enough by society to take care of it. Besides, I know her. She will quickly tire of the required maintenance and want to give it up and become like the rest of us that dread the razor staring at us in the shower. Future Allison: I love you, and you will always be beautiful to me. ALWAYS.
