Ive thought several times this summer about how bad a mother i was because I did not take my kids on vacation this year. Last night I got the other set of pics from the boys trip to Philmont Scout Ranch and their White Water Rafting trip in CO through the Royal Gorge... I then set back and said wait, I may have not took them, and I may have not went with them, but I think my kids prolly had one of the best summers of any one else in the area... The both worked Summer camp at The Rock this summer. Moe was on staff and taught Pioneering, Camping & Orienteering... He prolly worked directly with 150-200 kids this summer, not to mention, sang with, spoke to, ate with, played or lead games with close to a 1000 kids... Kolton was a CIT and he did the same but worked with people teaching Bird Study, Enviromental Science, Fishing, Cit in the World, Small Boat Sailing, & Swimming and also work Dining Hall staff to make sure those 1000 campers were fed every day. The boys loved nearly every minute of their time at camp and cant wait till camp next year! In the middle of the summer, the boys took part in a Philmont trek, not something you do every day... they carried, 40-50 lb packs, hike over 100 miles in 10 days, took part in skill building exercises, spar pole climbing, rock climbing, & black smithing to name a few things... when all that excitement was over, they went down several miles on the Arkansas River in CO, taking on class 5 rapids and from the pictures below, had a blast. So now, football starts in about 8 hours and even though I did not plan a trip for the family, I know that my boys had one of the best summers of their lives! I just hope that when they are old and if they have kids, they will remember the things they got to do and return the favor... Im personally glad I was not in any of these boats! Good Bye Summer, Till we meet again!!
