Ive wasted entirely too much time on Facebook tonight, and Ive renewed an observation that leads to a semi-serious question: conservatives, not all of them but many, seem to be pretty bad at spelling, punctuation, subject-verb agreement, things like that. I spent decades as a writer and editor, and those grammar-school mistakes bother me. But is it pedantic or pedagogical for me to dismiss their opinions because, say, they dont know the difference between then and than or imply and infer? Or is that evidence they dont pay attention, so I can ignore them? I mean, Im mostly going to ignore them anyway, but is it justified?
