Ive watched way too many people share this video amazed at how great of an idea it is to pass this one up. While this is certainly innovative, it isnt at all practical. These things are not cheap. Especially when compared to asphalt, which is very very cheap. Replacing our roads at that cost would be fiscally impossible. The creators of this technology are relying on the cool factor of how they can move and rearrange lights on the surface of each panel to create different shapes, words, etc. rather than the actual practicality of the technology itself. It has certainly worked; its generated buzz and has been an absolute win for this couple in terms of marketing. This kind of idea would be feasible for a private company to purchase with their own money for something such as a parking lot, that would be by far its best use. It could be used as a source of energy, and would probably only be worth it to the company if the company did intend on changing the configuration of painted lines often.
