Ivory Tower is a must-see for anyone interested at all in the crisis in higher education. There are so many depressing facts that are presented in the film, but what really struck me was how much the students inspired me with optimism for the future. The Cooper Union occupation with its chant Free College Education for All!. Daniel Liebowitz, a student at Deep Springs College in the Nevada Desert, discussing the value of learning to compromise as not something thats natural for us. I think that that has to be taught. And a freshman at Harvard whose parents were killed after he refused to be part of a gang saying very plainly College is the place where you figure out that theres something better. We certainly owe these students a better educational system than we are giving them today.
