I’M BEING CREATIVE WITH THE VARIOUS LEVELS OF PARTICIPATION for my upcoming crowd funding project to raise funds for the recording and promotion of my new album. People can buy hikes with me - nature hikes or urban. They can play percussion on my album by snapping fingers or clapping hands into a smart phone and then emailing it to me. Seriously, my engineer will put them right in the studio mix and there’ll be some hippy happy hoppy finger snappers jivin’ up my songs. There is a level that involves you and me (and a friend or two if you like) walking onto the Washington State Ferry in downtown Seattle and riding over to Bainbridge Island, where we’ll walk into the little town of Winslow to spend an afternoon wandering and browsing, having a cup of coffee or a beer, and then riding back when we’re ready. The idea is to come up with rewards of value that would cause someone to want to spend money on my campaign, which will help me finance and promote my new record. My last album cost around $60,000 and I didn’t have any money to promote with. So the best record of my life, while it was reviewed highly in Europe. did not get out there in the way I had hoped. So this time I’m doing crowd funding and I’m just dreaming up all kinds of things that might interest people out there. These new songs are so rich and beautiful and I really want to flow around the world. There are levels inviting you into the studio with me for a day, or having you sing harmony on a song, or levels where I performing a private concert wherever you live. There is a level where I give you a song writing lesson via Skype - or in person. There is even a private concert in one of Pete Nelson’s tree houses where you’ll stay and I’ll stop by for a performance. Some of these are a few hundred bucks, some are in the thousands. But I’ll also have plenty in the lower end for folks who just simply want to buy an mp3 or CD with some interesting bonuses. One of my favorites so far is this one-of-a-kind guitar I painted. I finished it a couple of nights ago, painting an owl flying under the moon. I love how it turned out. It made me think that I may do more of these over time. I just thought I’d share this little snippet of it. If you have been thinking, “Where the heck is my blue guitar?” well podna, this might be it. You can read about it when I launch my campaign very soon. ~ Michael Tomlinson Michael Tomlinson’s Very Tiny Thanksgiving Concert Setting a peaceful space for the Holiday Season Saturday, November 22, 6pm-sharp The Viking Room at the Swedish Club 1920 Dexter Avenue North, Seattle Tickets $35 Advance Only - includes handshake/hug/back slap (your choice) Available at michaeltomlinson Also: Being Present, Focused and Inspired in Writing and Speaking A Writer’s Workshop for Everyone, Saturday, December 6, 11am - 5pm In Seattle at the Swedish Cultural Center on Dexter Ave N (about one minute drive north of the Fremont Bridge) Tickets $100 at michaeltomlinson
