I’M READY TO RETURN TO APC – BAMIDELE By Yaqoub Popoola Correspondent, Ado-Ekiti A member of the House of Representatives and Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Opeyemi Bamidele, has hinted that he would formally return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in due course. He also expressed confidence that the presidential candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari, would make a difference. Bamidele, founder of Ekiti Bibire Coalition, clarified that he would formally return to the APC after the February general elections. Bamidele, a frontline member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), defected to LP in September 2013 during his frosty relationship with ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi over who flies the party’s governorship flag for the June 21, 2014 election. Bamidele said this in Ado Ekiti on Sunday while briefing newsmen on why he is supporting Buhari’s candidature for the February 14 presidential poll. The federal lawmaker said he led his teeming supporters to give support to Buhari during his electioneering in Ado Ekiti on Saturday because of his believe in his (Buhari) capacity to deliver, if elected President of the country. Bamidele said as a progressive, the task of joining other like-minded Nigerians to rid the country of corruption, insecurity and unemployment is his priority. He enjoined Nigerians to use the present opportunity offered by Buhari’s candidature to disentangle themselves from the clutches of socio-economic crises bedevilling them. Explaining why he won’t be returning to APC for now, Bamidele said the LP, where he presently belong, is fielding candidates for state and National Assembly elections and would have to give them support to be able to emerge victorious in their constituencies and senatorial districts. “Buhari remains the best option for our country at this present time and that is why we are deploying the Ekiti Bibire Coalition political platform for him. “Buhari had been military governor, minister and head of state. He has both civilian and military backgrounds that can help this nation at this critical period. “We cannot continue to fold our arms and allow a group under the guise of insurgency continues to decimate our people, even when we have a government at the centre.” DAILY INDEPENDENT JANUARY 27, 2015
