I’ll be the judge of that! When did I miss the announcement - TopicsExpress

I’ll be the judge of that! When did I miss the announcement that we all could no longer be the judge and jury of all things. I can’t understand why we are not allowed to place judgment on things we do not agree with, or judge those who deviate from our norm. I’m being a bit sarcastic here, but it’s to prove a point. No one, including yours truly, has the power and authority to judge others. Only God can say this and mean it. “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:1-5(NKJV) We all like to think that we do have this rightful pleasure of placing judgment on others especially when they do not see things our way, or want to argue a point that we strongly support. We immediately begin with the name calling and other verbal assaults, leading to the rendering of our judgment. This can be very damaging in any circumstance, especially when it goes against all things we are taught in God’s Word. We must be careful when we are criticizing others, placing blame or trading gossip. These actions can be very detrimental to our souls, particularly when we are being very hypocritical regarding the situation. It seems that I can hear someone saying “that’s the pot calling the kettle black.” I would hate to walk around with a big piece of lumber protruding from my eye. This activity is one that seems easy to correct. It may just take a little taming of the tongue. Most of our judgments on others are made using this particular limb. When we criticize and lay blame, we are judge and jury where we have no business in the courtroom. Jesus was sent here to remind us that there is only one ultimate Judge, and that Judge will have the final say in the matter, whether He is wearing a black robe or not. We often will place judgment on others without even realizing we are doing it. We debate topics and argue points until they move into the personal realm. We lose track of our past, and we begin to criticize those around us for not being perfect. All the while, we are far from this perfection, but refuse to admit it because it would place us on the same playing field. I have news, we are on the same field, moving toward the same goal line. We are all created in the image of a loving God, and therefore, we are all on the same team. I will pull the lumber from your eye, if you yank the plank out of mine! “in the world, not of the world”
