I’ll leave Facebook behind it’s just a question of when. - TopicsExpress

I’ll leave Facebook behind it’s just a question of when. Seriously, do you really think it’s a good idea to make friends with thousands of people you’ve never met before in real life? There’s a fine line between stalking and acting interested in someone. I enjoy the rush of “likes” flooding the notifications on my FB page in the morning after posting photographs including some of my own. I even posted my pictures under the pseudonym of Jack Kove, and until now, only a few people knew Jack is really me. My point is that we live secret lives in social media to the detriment of personal skin-to-skin relationships. I’ll trade my 2,000+ friends for a real person any day. That’s not to say that I haven’t had some amazing times with my FB buddies, some of which I would have never found otherwise, but there are also people on FB that I would like to get to know better except in reaching out to them, I appear creepy and desperate. And I’m neither. I don’t stalk, either. Social media takes us away from our problems to a place that isn’t real. I can’t tell you how many times I avoided dull sensing daily chores to surf social media. Maybe it’s just me but my FB friend’s aren’t there to help me take out the garbage or paint the living room. I can’t ask them for a ride to pick up a rental car. It’s frustrating. I need more friends that I can depend on. So for all you fabulous people that I’ll never get to meet in person, I long for your friendship. If you’re ever in Cleveland get in touch with me and I’ll show you the sites. I travel to NYC often so we could always meet there. I need you FB people. I need to look into your eyes and talk about whatever comes to mind. I need human contact. We all do.
