I’ll never forget the day it really hit me that I was truly living my fitness dream. I was running down the beach at 6:30am on the morning of my wedding day. As I ran past some tourists taking photos on top of a large rock, I suddenly recognized one of the rocks, and I stopped to check it out and have a drink of water. As I looked up, I realized this was the rock I used to come sit on after work everyday, look out on to the beach, and feel sorry for myself. In those days I used to eat fast food everyday used to run out of energy by 11am! My fitness life was focused on how I thought my “genetics” had let me down; I had felt lonely and though no woman would ever find me attractive. But that day, as I was scoping that rock, I thought, “what a difference a few years can make!” I did have dreams for my body and fitness back then , but at the time, it seemed they’d never be realized. Today, though, I’ve come to believe that all my past frustrations with my body were actually laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of fitness I now enjoy. As I continued my run that morning, I spotted dolphins playing with surfers in the waves below. I thought to myself “ what an amazing day it had been and it was only 7:15am!”. Finally, I reached the walkway back to my hotel. I was concerned, that I hadn’t ran as far as I normally would. But as I picked up my iphone, and pressed finish workout on my run tracker, I actually achieved a personal best of 15k’s!. I had such a sense of fulfillment that I screamed “hell yea!”.As I looked out into the ocean and feeling the warm sun on my skin, in that moment I realized I am living my fitness dream!
