I’m Adrian Wyllie, Libertarian candidate for Governor of Florida. I want to talk to you a little bit about marriage. Why is government involved in marriage? You know marriage predates government. Why is it that in the twentieth century government decided that it was time that they got involved? You know I look at this as an issue that is between the individuals involved and, depending on their faith, the churches. It infuriates me that twenty three years ago when I married my beautiful wife Dawn, in order to pledge my eternal love to her, I had to go to the State and ask permission, and pay a tax. You know it’s time that we look at this issue and say “what is the proper role of government?” Let’s get government out of the marriage business and leave those choices to the individuals involved. And I think we’ll find that we’re all a lot freer and a lot better off when we limit the role of government in our lives.
