I’m Lynn Woolley with your Logic Minute for 4/2/14 If I had to guess – right now – I’d say the mostly likely Republican presidential nominee is Jeb Bush. Here’s why. The establishment—not the Tea Party – is still firmly in control, and it likes the status quo. What I mean by that is that the establishment likes power, likes dealing with lobbyists, likes taking trips, likes being in office and holding power for decades. The Tea Party is more about serving and reforming things like the Tax Code. The establishment likes the Tax Code. So they need an establishment figure to be nominated. Chris Christie was looking like their guy. But then came Bridgegate. So they are looking elsewhere –and who is more establishment than a Bush? But can a Bush beat a Clinton? Doubtful. In fact, yet another Bush versus Clinton election may be the best way to get Hillary elected. The establishment may try it anyway. Because if a Ted Cruz gets elected, there goes the status quo.
