I’m afraid I might be a compost dunce. Is there any way to compost without a gajillion insects flying around? I got a 2-compartment barrel at the beginning of the summer, and we still haven’t moved anything over. It’s compressing so much we haven’t felt the need...but are there secret sauce things I’m supposed to add other than kitchen scraps? Help! I’ve introduced my mother to figs this year, and she can’t stop talking about them to anyone: “I didn’t know I liked figs, just Fig Newtons from when I was a kid, and this is such a nice surprise…” I guess she was talking to a man at the golf course about figs and it turned out his grandfather immigrated from Italy, brought a fig tree with him to Detroit, protected it like crazy in the winters and had this massive fig tree in his backyard (until dumb vandal kids wrecked it). What a story!
