I’m developing a photo shop eye. I don’t use the single word - TopicsExpress

I’m developing a photo shop eye. I don’t use the single word photo shop because it is a name for software and that word doesnt quite get at what I am noticing in the way I look at pictures these days. Especially pictures on the net. There are some great sights with wonderful pictures, beautiful clear colors and crisp focus across vast fields. A lot of those pictures are made in a photo shop. It doesnt make them less beautiful but it does make them less real and it pushes forward an existential question for me. When I see a huge flawless star field set behind a sandy beach with arching palms it is like looking at a dream. I can stare for a long time but there comes a moment when I have to leave the theater. Now it seems I have got a photo shop eye. I can spot impossibilities and anomalies in a few seconds. I was afraid of losing a child like wonder from this but it has made the real pictures more beautiful and made me think harder about what the real one’s look like and what the ones from a photo shop look like. They both have their charm but over all I think I enjoy the real thing a bit more than the fanciful. It’s nice to have both and get to choose. The America Gene orders are caught up now at Videoranch and we are back to shipping out orders on schedule. The Kindle version goes on line later this week. I’ll post the date when I know it. Amazon has the print edition up for sale as well, but if you can buy it from Videoranch it’s a plus for me. The Amazon books have an advantage for the UK and other non-US residents because the shipping is a lot cheaper. Of course I can’t sign the copies that Amazon sells so it is a trade off. I will sign all that are requested at videoranch. All the initial orders have been terrific and thank you all for that. The cover and illustrations on the print book are by Randy South and were created by him with a commission from me to set some of the scenes from the book in a futuristic Las Vegas that included the DNA helix. It made a fabulous cover for the printed book and looks especially good in real life I thought he did a great job. It shows what a photo shop is for.
