I’m enjoying the banter on the several threads on this page (and struggling to keep up with it all). I am now looking forward to Melbourne 2014 more than ever, but sometimes I want to be 25 years younger, so I can run with runners like Brianna Bunworth, and be there with her when she 3hrs, then I want to clone myself so I can be with Trish Slater and Sam Winnie when they break 4hrs, or tracking Amanda Neil as she takes her running to a new level, and then I want to run the half with Tanya Marie so I can see how she has improved with her recent hard work. Then watching all those stepping up in distance whether be from the 5 to the 10km, the 10km to the half, of all the way up to the Marathon, knowing that myself and the other long term members of this group have been partly responsible for encouraging these runners to take their enjoyment to a new level. But I will be content running faster than I did last year and enjoying everybodys stories after the race, but the enjoyment will be better if I finish infront of Nicole Fels, Rose Jones and a few other who think I might be over the hill. Last year at the after party I organise, LSW noticed me sitting quietly away from the rest of the people and wander over to see what was wrong. I told her that there was nothing wrong, I was just sitting back enjoying watching and listening. With so much bad and sadness in the world, I just wanted to enjoy a room full of positive people, most who had run either PB’s or faster than they had run for years. There was this sort of enthusiastic glow in the room, which is rare nowadays in our communities. People were planning their next run/adventure, it was great just to be present with that group, bring on Melbourne 2014 I say.
