I’m not sure we as #USMNT fans realize how much we NEED Mexico to qualify…. Listen, I get it. We as human beings ALWAYS want our enemies to fail… But a perfect example (in my eyes) why we shouldn’t be hoping for Mexico to not get the result in Costa Rica tonight is what has happened in Scotland with Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers. The hatred for Rangers’ success has had a horrific effect on the game there and it won’t be getting any better for a long, long time. I know some will say that comparison isn’t equal to the #USMNT & Mexico… But go back just two years ago. What forced change in the #USMNT system? Go back to late June in 2011 to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and the 2 – 4 loss to Mexico….. Remember how f-ing good Mexico was that day and subsequently the Mexico U-20 and Mexic0 U-23 Olympic Team triumphs? Mexico PUSHES us to be better across the board. Their success will always hold us accountable and set the bar for how successful we need to be. I’m rooting for Mexico tonight, because I’m a fan of the United States. Their qualification brings more attention to our region, the players and the clubs at the domestic level. Just my two cents / sense.
